We recognize that many educators have full work schedules, significant family commitments or live in remote locations that make travel to traditional course locations both difficult and impractical. In response to these needs, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction/Literacy Studies offers the Elementary online master’s degree program in education. Our programs are flexible in nature, and allow students to complete coursework at a pace that best suits their needs. We also provide students with personalized advising experiences to address needs on an individualized basis.
This online programs is designed for individuals currently holding a teacher certification in elementary education but wish to expand their knowledge of learning, teaching, and the issues facing educators today.
This program is available 100% online through
WVU Online and Extended Campus, using the eCampus online learning system.

Students must submit the WVU Graduate Admission Application along with a personal goal statement document (to be uploaded into the online application)
Students must also have a 2.75 GPA and must hold current teacher certification.
Applications are considered for fall, spring, or summer enrollment.
